Moldovans working legally in Greece will benefit from a pension in the Republic of Moldova

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who have worked legally in Greece, but do not have the minimum contribution period of 15 years completed in our state, will be able to receive a pension in the Republic of Moldova, calculated proportional to the periods of contribution in the republic, but not to benefit from social allowance. An agreement to this effect, concluded with the Greek state, will enter into force on January 1, 2023, announces the National Social Insurance Agency (CNAS).

According to the Agreement, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, as well as citizens of the Hellenic Republic, are guaranteed the right to an old-age pension, survivor's pension, disability pension caused by a general condition, pension and disability allowance caused by a work accident or a occupational disease from the state where he legally worked.

Thus, the insured persons will have the possibility to benefit from the pension regardless of where they will reside in the future, each state applying the national legislation in the field of establishing social benefits, the pension being transferred monthly to the beneficiary on the territory of the state in which he currently resides.

Currently, the National Social Insurance House implements 14 international agreements in the field of social security, signed with Romania, Portugal, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Austria, Estonia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Belgium, Lithuania, Germany, Turkey, Republic of Belarus.

Also, international agreements in the field of social security based on proportionality principles are signed with the Italian Republic and the Kingdom of Spain, respectively, which are due to enter into force.
