Ryabkov: Russia and the US may be on the brink of armed conflict. International experts accuse Moscow of orchestrating a drone attack on the Kremlin

The Russian Federation and the United States may be on the brink of open armed conflict, according to Moscow Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Reabkov. He said relations between Moscow and Washington were being maintained solely out of political interests. Western experts, on the other hand, believe the Kremlin's drone strike comes at a turning point in the war, in preparation for Ukraine's long-awaited counter-offensive.

Deputy minister Sergei Reabkov said Russia is working to ensure that relations with the United States do not fall into the abyss of open armed conflict. According to the Moscow official, US representatives are trying to show detachment and are "promoting in the international media the thesis that Washington is not involved" in the terrorist attack in the Kremlin and the invasion of the Russian president's life.

In response, the White House denies any involvement in the alleged drone attack on the Kremlin. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby says Washington had nothing to do with the Kremlin incident.

At the same time, several international experts accused Russia of once again orchestrating a false-flag operation that was planned with the intention of blaming its adversary, Ukraine. The incident in the Kremlin comes at a turning point in the war, in preparation for Ukraine's long-awaited counteroffensive.

After Russia said it reserves the right to respond to the attempted attack on the Kremlin wherever and whenever it deems necessary, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell warned Moscow not to use the alleged drone strike on the Kremlin as a pretext to escalate its war in Ukraine.

A drone attack on the Kremlin on 3 May was described by Russia as a terrorist attack on President Putin.
