Hungarian Foreign Minister: Black Sea Submarine Power Cable Will 'Set a World Record in Length'
The Black Sea Submarine Power Cable Project will have a combined capacity of 3 gigawatts and set a record worldwide in terms of length, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, quoted by caleaeuropeana.ro.

According to him, an Italian company is preparing the feasibility study for the project, at a cost of 2.5 million euros covered by the World Bank. The study should be completed by the end of next year and the construction work will then take about 3-4 years, explained the head of Hungarian diplomacy. In the initial configuration, the cable will reach Romania and will have a length of 1,195 km, of which 1,100 km will be underwater and 95 km on land.
Radio Moldova recalls that on Saturday, in Bucharest, the agreement was signed between the governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary and Romania regarding the Strategic Partnership in the field of green energy development and transport. The electric cable from the Black Sea will be able to supply electricity to the Republic of Moldova as well as to Ukraine.
