In 2022, Great Britain produced a record amount of wind energy, Agerpres reports. According to the source, UK wind farms contributed a record around 27 percent of the country's electricity generation last year, although gas-fired plants remained the biggest source of energy.

Last year, gas-fired plants in the UK produced more than 38 percent of its electricity, up from 2021, as the country imported less electricity. Imports made up around 6 percent of the total, up from over 10 percent in 2021.
