Ukrainian General Staff: Ukrainian Army repelled attacks in Soledar and Bahmut area

"The enemy carried out 63 attacks from multiple missile launch systems, including on the civilian infrastructure of the cities of Kharkiv, Kherson, Kramatorsk in the Donetsk regions and Ocheakov in the Nikolaev region. The day before, Ukrainian journalist Iurii Butusov claimed that by Monday evening the situation in Soledar had become threatening for the Ukrainian army. According to him, Russian forces have reached a position from which to fire on the highway that connects this city and its garrison to the Ukrainian rear.

"It is not a complete encirclement, but normal deliveries along the route are impossible, this is critical for defence," Butusov said.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, in an evening address to citizens, said that Ukraine was able to gain "extensions and additional forces" thanks to the resistance of the participants in Soledar's defence. The Russian military, he said, "has now concentrated its greatest efforts on Soledar."

Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokeswoman Anna Maliar said Monday that the enemy had regrouped, deployed "additional assault units, changed tactics" and "launched a heavy attack" on Soledar.
