Russian-Belarusian Defense Forces, in combat condition. Volodymyr Zelensky: "Ukraine must strengthen its border"

Ukraine must strengthen its border near Belarus, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today after a visit to the Lviv region. Meanwhile, the joint Russian-Belarusian Air Defense Forces have been reinforced with new missile units that have been placed in positions, the Ministry of Defense in Minsk announced today.

Kiev has warned that Russia could use Belarus to launch a new ground invasion of Ukraine from the north, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said. During the visit to the Lviv region, Volodymyr Zelenskiy discussed border protection, the operational situation on the border with the Republic of Belarus and anti-subversive measures in these territories with the military.

The leader from Kyiv also said that the Ukrainian authorities do not see anything solid in the actions of arming Minsk, but nevertheless the Ukrainian military must be prepared both at the border and in the Ukrainian towns on the border with Belarus.

Today the joint Russian-Belarusian air defence forces were reinforced with new missile units that were placed in positions, the Ministry of Defense in Minsk announced, quoted by Reuters. According to the institution, several units of anti-aircraft missiles were installed in the designated areas and were placed in combat mode.

Belarus is a close ally of Russia and allowed Russian President Vladimir Putin to use its territory as a launching pad for his February 24 invasion of Ukraine. The two countries are to hold joint air exercises in the second half of January.
