Romania and the Republic of Moldova started the implementation of the memorandum of understanding in digital transformation

The governments of Romania and the Republic of Moldova have started the implementation of the memorandum of understanding in the field of digital transformation, according to a press release from the Romanian Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization. In this context, the Republic of Moldova will increase its capacities to transpose the standards and regulations of the European Union and to apply the best international practices in the field of digital transformation, said Sebastian Burduja, Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization from Romania.

The Republic of Moldova is committed to collaborating with Romania in order to develop the common digital space, said the Deputy Prime Minister for Digitalization of the Republic of Moldova, Iurie Țurcanu. According to him, Romania is the main partner of our country in boosting bilateral cooperation, carrying out the exchange of experience, mobilizing technical, financial and human resources. In this context, the Government of the Republic of Moldova designated, through a Government decision, the Electronic Government Agency as the entity responsible for the common digital space. Thus, the Memorandum signed on February 11, 2022 can be implemented through the co-creation, testing and joint implementation of digital solutions in the public sector. The Electronic Government Agency of the Republic of Moldova will develop, together with the relevant public authorities from the Government of Romania, the information systems to simplify the public services provided by the public institutions of the two states, will ensure the future maintenance of the applications and electronic services developed jointly in the two countries. The common digital space will bring advantages for both countries. It will contribute to the development of solutions compatible with the standards and regulations of the European Union, facilitating cross-border interactions without obstacles between citizens and the business environment of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, stated the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization from Romania, Sebastian Burduja.
