The US announces that it is sending American tanks to Ukraine

The United States will send Abrams tanks to Ukraine. The announcement was made on Wednesday by US President Joe Biden. In an address to the nation at the White House, Biden called the armored forces "the most capable" in the world.

According to the US President, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin expected US support for Ukraine to collapse over time, but he was "wrong".

"We are united, America is united, and so is the world," the White House leader continued, quoted by the BBC.

Joe Biden says the decision to send tanks is "further evidence of our enduring and unwavering commitment to Ukraine." This morning, a senior White House official warned that the US expects Putin to go on the offensive in the coming months as the weather heats up.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunac and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki welcomed Germany's decision to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, thanking Chancellor Olaf Scholz and saying it would "strengthen Ukraine's defensive firepower. Now the efforts are accelerated. Thus, it can be ensured that Ukraine wins this war and secures a lasting peace," the British official said on Twitter.
