The cause of the collapse is still unknown.

The four-story building collapsed in just two seconds while several people were inside their apartments. At least two people were taken to the hospital after being rescued from under the rubble.

The deadliest incident of this kind in Turkey occurred in 2004, when a 12-story building was reduced to rubble. Over 90 people died then, and another 30 were injured in that disaster.

This incident in Konya occurred just three days after the devastating fire at a ski resort in Bolu, where 78 people died after the 12-story hotel they were staying in caught fire.
