European Commission Vice-President for Technological Sovereignty visits Chișinău

Henna Virkkunen, the European Commission's Executive Vice-President for Technological Sovereignty, Security, and Democracy, is visiting the Republic of Moldova for the first time. During her visit, she will meet with President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean, and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Doina Nistor.

According to a statement from the European Union Delegation, the discussions will focus on strengthening the democratic and digital resilience of the Republic of Moldova, including efforts to combat disinformation and hybrid attacks. In this regard, Virkkunen will also meet with representatives of the Central Electoral Commission, the Audiovisual Council and the Center for Strategic Communication and Countering Disinformation.

The visit will also discuss the Republic of Moldova's accession to the European "Roam like at home" area.
