Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities
In the Republic of Moldova, over 161 thousand people with disabilities are registered, of whom almost 11 thousand are children.
This category of people benefits from several types of social benefits, states the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. According to the cited source, due to the war in Ukraine, disabled refugees from the neighbouring country also benefited from social assistance through the reservation and phased preparation of places for placement.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was established on October 14, 1992, by the General Assembly of the United Nations, as a sign of solidarity with persons with disabilities.
