“I want Moldova to shed the label of Europe’s poorest country”. Alexandru Munteanu presents his governing program

The priority of the future Government's mandate will be economic growth, protecting the population and the reform process, announces the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) candidate for the position of Prime Minister, Alexandru Munteanu.
"We need to do something to relaunch economic growth. It is not enough to keep the budget deficit under control, we need to make sure that people are doing better. When we make reforms, we need to take care of the population, continue investing in education and health and provide social protection to the vulnerable," Alexandru Munteanu said on October 16 in a ProTV broadcast.
Munteanu drew a parallel with the reforms in Greece after the financial crisis, emphasizing the importance of protecting disadvantaged groups during periods of economic adjustment.
Asked what qualifies him for the position of prime minister, Alexandru Munteanu avoided a flattering answer, but listed his professional experiences in academia, finance and international investment.
"I have been a member of the boards of directors of approximately 30 companies and projects, including cultural, educational and economic ones. I think I have learned one essential thing: to build good teams and delegate effectively," the announced candidate for the position of prime minister pointed out.
Alexandru Munteanu stated that he intends to collaborate with all pro-European forces to achieve common goals.
"We are a small country, but with a wonderful project — integration into the European family. And the impact of this integration must be positive for the population. We cannot go there as the poorest country in the European Union. It bothers and irritates me when someone says this about us," the businessman added.
We recall that the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu, leader of the Action and Solidarity Party, announced on October 14, on social networks, that Alexandru Munteanu – an economist, university professor and businessman with a career of over 25 years in the field of international investments – will be proposed by PAS for the position of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, after the validation of the deputy mandates by the Constitutional Court and the convening of the session to establish the new Parliament by president Maia Sandu.
The constitutive session of the Parliament elected on September 28 will take place next week.
