ANSP reports an increase in cases of respiratory infections among children

The National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) has reported a rise in respiratory infections over the past week. From November 10 to 16, 1,693 cases of acute upper respiratory tract infections (AURT) were recorded, with the majority occurring in children. This marks a 9.4% increase compared to the previous week.

During the same period, four cases of seasonal flu were reported, all in Chișinău.

Additionally, five COVID-19 cases were confirmed, a 44% decline from the previous week, which reported nine cases. Most COVID-19 cases occurred among children aged 0 to 14.

Health specialists urge the public to get vaccinated against both seasonal flu and SARS-CoV-2.

“Seroprotection is typically achieved two to three weeks after vaccination, and the duration of post-vaccination immunity ranges from 6 to 12 months,” doctors explain.

Alongside vaccination, it is crucial to practice good personal hygiene, such as frequent hand washing with soap and water, using tissues when coughing or sneezing, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This includes a diet rich in vegetables and fruits, adequate rest, and regular physical activity.

"These measures, combined with vaccination, provide the best protection against influenza and other respiratory infections," state representatives from ANSP.
