Yellow Fog warning: Visibility down to 200 m across Moldova

The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued a Yellow Fog Code for Thursday, November 27, valid from 03:00 to 12:00. Meteorologists predict that dense fog will cover large areas, reducing visibility to approximately 200 meters.
The warning is valid throughout the Republic of Moldova.

Traffic safety during dense fog
When driving in dense fog, traffic safety relies on preventive behaviour and strict adherence to certain rules.
Tips for drivers:
Reduce your speed: Significantly lower your speed and adjust it according to visibility conditions. Be prepared to stop at any moment.
Increase following distance: Maintain a greater distance from the vehicle in front of you, as fog can mask distances and increase braking time.
Use your lights properly: Turn on your dipped headlights (low beam) along with your fog lights (both front and rear, if your vehicle is equipped). Avoid using high beams, as their light reflects off water droplets in the fog, further impairing visibility.
Avoid risky maneuvers: Refrain from overtaking when visibility is poor. Always signal your intentions to change direction or lanes well in advance.
Keep your windshield clean: Use your vehicle's ventilation and demisting system to prevent condensation on the windows.
Use emergency lights: If visibility drops below 50 meters, turn on your emergency lights to increase your visibility to other drivers.
Tips for pedestrians:
Wear visible clothing: Opt for light-colored clothing, ideally with reflective elements (like bands or vests) to enhance visibility to drivers.
Cross at designated areas: Always cross at pedestrian crossings or traffic lights. Ensure that drivers see you before you cross the road.
Avoid dangerous areas: Stay clear of roadways and avoid standing too close to heavily traveled roads.
