Bribe for smuggling prohibited Items: Penitentiary department head arrested

On Wednesday, December 3, officers from the National Anticorruption Center (CNA), along with prosecutors, conducted raids at the management offices of Penitentiary No. 6 in Soroca and on an inmate from the same facility. These searches are part of a criminal investigation into allegations of active and passive corruption. One individual was detained in connection with the case.
According to the case files, the head of a penitentiary department is under suspicion for repeatedly soliciting and receiving money from the wife of a detainee in exchange for facilitating the transmission of prohibited items to inmates.
Searches were conducted in the offices of the penitentiary administrators, in certain cells, as well as in the homes and vehicles of the individuals involved.
The National Anti-Corruption Agency (CNA) has announced the detention of the department head, who will be held in solitary confinement for 72 hours.
Investigations into the case are ongoing to fully document the facts and pursue criminal charges against those involved.
