Mayor of Pepeni commune publishes images of a new drone found in Moldova

A local resident in Pepeni commune, Sângerei district, discovered a drone. On Wednesday, December 3, the local mayor, Oleg Cernei, shared images of it on Facebook.

The images show that the drone was loaded onto a motor cultivator and ‘driven’ through the village.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the origin of the drone or how it arrived in Pepeni.

Internet users commented that the drone from Pepeni resembles the "decoy drone" discovered last week on the roof of a house in the Florești district.

We remind you that the National Army’s airspace surveillance systems detected six drones crossing the airspace of the Republic of Moldova without authorization on the morning of November 25, in a new massive attack on Ukraine.

One drone, marked with the letter "Z," a symbol of Russian military aggression, later found to be without explosives, fell on the roof of the house of a guard at an orchard in the village of Cuhurestii de Jos, Floresti district.

The Russian Federation’s Ambassador in Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where a formal note of protest was presented to him.

Subsequently, four other drones also flew illegally over Moldovan territory.

The authorities of the Republic of Moldova are currently seeking ways to increase investments in airspace protection equipment, as Russian drones are increasingly crossing Moldovan airspace illegally. According to President Maia Sandu, the drones pose a real danger to citizens.

The head of state criticized the disinformation being spread by some politicians in Chisinau in this context:

"Drones represent a danger, and it is unfortunate that some citizens allow themselves to be misled by lies. If we do not understand the risks and threats, we cannot protect ourselves. It is regrettable that certain politicians spread misinformation and manipulate the public, but this danger exists, continues, and will persist as long as Russia’s war against Ukraine continues," the President warned during a press conference on Tuesday, December 2, following the meeting of the National Security Council.
