Chisinau police intensified checks in commercial areas before the winter holidays, after officers uncovered 26 cases of unauthorized pyrotechnic sales in a single day. They seized products worth 60.000 lei.

As the holidays approach, more citizens buy pyrotechnic items to mark festive events. Police warn that these items become extremely dangerous when people use them improperly or buy them from unauthorized sources.

Authorities stress the need for responsible use to prevent incidents and accidents that can cause serious harm, especially to children.

To reduce risks, capital police intensify checks in shops, markets, and other commercial spaces to prevent incidents and protect public safety.

After Wednesday’s inspections, officers issued 26 reports for unauthorized sales. They seized pyrotechnic items worth 60.000 lei.

Police remind the public that illegal sales of pyrotechnic items bring fines between 1.500 and 3.000 lei. They urge merchants to follow the law and citizens to buy only from authorized sources.

The Law on the regime of pyrotechnic items sets strict rules for the use of civilian pyrotechnic materials in the Republic of Moldova. The law bans firecrackers and firecracker batteries throughout the country. It allows high risk items such as professional fireworks in category F4, show items in category T2, and technical items in category P2 only when authorized pyrotechnicians use them with approval from the National Inspectorate for Technical Safety.
