Law enforcement officers discovered approximately 10 kilograms of drugs, valued at over five million lei, in a hotel room located in the village of Todirești, Anenii Noi district. According to the General Inspectorate of Police, the investigation began on December 7, after authorities received a report about a woman who had left a bag in the hotel that allegedly contained a significant quantity of narcotic substances.
Police officers discovered nine packages containing approximately 10 kilograms of mephedrone and marijuana at the scene.
Initially, three men were detained: two brothers, aged 21 and 25, from the left bank of the Nistru, and a 26-year-old man. They were allegedly planning to sell some of the drugs. All three were placed in pre-trial detention for 30 days.
Later, a 23-year-old woman, believed to have left the bag with the drugs at the hotel, was identified and arrested. According to police, she is a citizen of the Russian Federation. During a search of her home in Chisinau, law enforcement officers seized mobile phones and a laptop that were used to coordinate the criminal activities.
The individuals involved in this case could face prison sentences ranging from 7 to 15 years. Investigations are ongoing to identify all members of the drug trafficking network and to prevent the distribution of narcotic substances in the Republic of Moldova.
