Romania suspends the activity of the Russian Center in Bucharest. Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "It has turned into a tool for promoting propaganda and disinformation"

Romania suspends the activity of the Russian Center for Culture and Science in Bucharest. The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today summoned the Russian ambassador to Bucharest, Valeri Kuzmin, to inform him of the authorities' decision.

According to a press release from the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "the center completely departed from the natural objectives of strengthening cultural ties and regrettably turned into a tool for propaganda, disinformation and excusing the war crimes of the Russian Federation in Ukraine ". The statement states that the institution must cease its activity by August 20 at the latest. The Russian Center for Culture and Science in Bucharest was established on the basis of the Agreement between the Government of Romania and that of the Russian Federation regarding the opening and operating conditions of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Moscow and the Russian Center of Science and Culture in the city of Bucharest, signed in Moscow, on July 9, 2013.
