Maestro Stasie Gonikberg leads international gala at newly renovated Casa Radio studio
The 10th anniversary edition of the "In D Major" International Classical Music Festival opened at Casa Radio, showcasing the recently modernized symphonic studio of Teleradio-Moldova (TRM).

Under the baton of US-based conductor Stasie Gonikberg, the National Symphony Orchestra performed iconic works by Richard Wagner and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The event marked a milestone for the national broadcaster, highlighting significant architectural and acoustic upgrades to the venue.
"The orchestra is exceptional and the collaboration was a true pleasure," stated maestro Gonikberg, originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine. She praised the atmosphere and the high professional standards of the Moldovan musicians.
The renovation of the studio included a full floor replacement, the installation of advanced climate control and lighting systems, and structural roof repairs. These upgrades aim to position the venue as a premier recording and performance space in Eastern Europe.
TRM General Director Vlad Țurcanu emphasized that the modernization is a sign of respect for the orchestra's legacy. Chief conductor Gheorghe Mustea compared the new acoustic environment to a "sacred space" for music, noting its international appeal for visiting conductors.
The festival continues on Wednesday, February 11, with British conductor Margarita Mikhailova taking the podium. The performance will be broadcast live on Radio Moldova Muzical (97.7 FM).
