President Maia Sandu joins approximately 50 heads of state and government for the Munich Security Conference (MSC). This premier international forum, starting tomorrow, will focus on the most pressing challenges to global stability.

The Moldovan President is scheduled to hold a series of high-level bilateral meetings with world leaders. According to the presidential administration, these discussions will prioritize regional security cooperation and Moldova's ongoing path toward European integration.

Tackling hybrid warfare

A key highlight of the visit is President Sandu’s participation in a specialized panel focused on preventing and combating hybrid threats. She will share the stage with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and the President of Germany’s Federal Intelligence Service, Martin Jäger.

NATO Military Committee Chair Giuseppe Cavo Dragone will also join the discussion. This session underscores Moldova's critical role in understanding and resisting modern unconventional warfare in Eastern Europe.

A high-stakes global gathering

This year’s edition of the MSC features a prominent lineup of international decision-makers. Key attendees include European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Other notable participants include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The presence of these leaders reflects the urgency of the current geopolitical climate.

The conference agenda covers a broad spectrum of issues, from the future of the transatlantic relationship to the impact of technological advancements on defense. Discussions will also address regional conflicts and the preservation of a rules-based international order.
