Sabotage in favor of Russia? Young man from the Republic of Moldova, detained in Poland

A 25-year-old man from Moldova was detained by Polish law enforcement officers after allegedly pulling the emergency brake of a freight train carrying crude oil.

According to Polish authorities, a man was found between train carriages on the line connecting the northern port city of Szczecin in Poland to Dorohusk, located on the border with Ukraine. He was found in possession of Russian documents and electronic equipment.

The documents were concealed in a bag along with mobile phones, SIM cards, and a portable battery, as reported by tvpworld.com.

This arrest at the Puławy train station in eastern Poland is part of an operation launched after acts of sabotage on the same railway line in November of the previous year.

In recent years, several citizens of the Republic of Moldova have been detained abroad for their involvement in subversive actions. For instance, in October 2025, a Moldovan citizen was arrested in Kyiv after setting fire to railway equipment owned by the state-run Ukrzaliznytsia. The investigation revealed that he had been recruited via Telegram and was paid in cryptocurrencies by Russian intelligence to disrupt military logistics.

Additionally, in June 2024, several Moldovan citizens were detained in Paris, France, for marking buildings with religious symbols and placing fake coffins near the Eiffel Tower, actions orchestrated by Russian intelligence.

The series of incidents continued in July 2024 when other young people from the Republic of Moldova were caught vandalizing French media outlets, receiving payment through online recruitment networks.
