Call for truth, justice, and compensation for victims in front of the Russian Embassy

On February 24, 2026, we will mark four years since the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and twelve years since the occupation of Crimea. To commemorate these events, the human rights organization Amnesty International invites media representatives and the general public to a public event organized in Chisinau.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, at 11:00 AM, in front of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova, located at 153 Stefan cel Mare și Sfânt Boulevard. This gathering aims to reaffirm our commitment to truth, justice, and compensation for the victims of the war.
According to a report by Amnesty International, approximately 90% of Ukraine's domestic thermal power generation capacity has become inoperable due to ongoing attacks. As a result, emergency power outages are affecting about 80% of the country's territory. Many civilians are left without electricity, water, and heating, while access to healthcare, education, and other essential public services has been severely limited.

For the past four years, the organization has been documenting serious human rights violations, including deliberate attacks on civilians and essential infrastructure, illegal detentions, torture, and forced deportations. Amnesty representatives emphasize that these issues require thorough investigation and accountability measures.
In discussions about "peace," the organizers stress that there can be no lasting peace without truth, accountability, and compensation for the victims.
The action will feature public statements, messages of solidarity, and appeals to the international community to uphold international law and respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The organizers encourage participation and media coverage of the event. Confirmations of attendance and requests for additional information can be sent to the contact details provided in the invitation.
