Supreme Council of Prosecutors imposes maximum sanction on Glodeni official

The Discipline and Ethics Board of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) has dismissed Ion Crișciuc, a prosecutor from the Glodeni office of the Bălți Prosecutor’s Office.

The decision follows an incident on January 13, 2026, when Mr. Crișciuc was stopped by traffic police under suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to official records, the prosecutor refused both the Drager breathalyzer test and the collection of biological samples for blood-alcohol analysis.

The Board focused strictly on the disciplinary and ethical aspects of the case. They determined that Mr. Crișciuc’s actions constituted "conduct unbecoming" and severely damaged the prestige of the Prosecutor's Office.

Under Article 38, letter f) of the Law on the Prosecution Service, the Board applied the most severe disciplinary sanction available: immediate dismissal from service.

Notably, the prosecutor had submitted a letter of resignation the day after the incident. However, the Board proceeded with the formal dismissal to reflect the gravity of the ethical violation.

While the disciplinary matter is concluded, the police have initiated a separate criminal investigation into Ion Crișciuc’s conduct.

The former prosecutor has 15 working days to appeal the decision before the Superior Council of Prosecutors.
