Right to work in Ukraine for families of Moldovan diplomats: Agreement approved by the Government

Family members of staff from the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ukraine and the Consulate General in Odessa will now have the opportunity to work for pay in Ukraine. The Chisinau executive approved this agreement during a meeting on February 25, following its preparation in Kiev on February 10, 2026.

The State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergiu Mihov, stated that the implementation of this agreement allows families of the Moldovan diplomatic corps to work in Ukraine.

Similarly, the agreement also extends this right to the families of staff members at the Embassy and Consular Office of Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova.

"Such treaties, which have been established with several other countries, ensure the right to work as provided by the laws of those countries, while also contributing to the protection of families," emphasized the State Secretary.

The Republic of Moldova currently has similar agreements with 11 countries, including Romania, the United States, France, Germany, Poland, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Additionally, negotiations are ongoing for new treaties with India and Spain.
