Control measures introduced after swine fever case in Parcani

An outbreak of African Swine Fever has been confirmed in a domestic pig in the village of Parcani, located in the Calarasi district. The Calarasi District Council announced this on Friday, March 6, based on data provided by the territorial subdivision of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA).

After confirming the case, the Commission for Exceptional Situations in the Călărași district convened and made a decision to combat and prevent the spread of the disease. As a result, authorities approved a plan of measures to be implemented throughout the district to limit and eradicate the outbreak.

According to the Commission’s decision, designated institutions have been given specific tasks to carry out prevention and control measures aimed at protecting pig herds in both households and commercial farms.

The program to combat, prevent, and eradicate African Swine Fever will remain in effect until the outbreak is fully eliminated.

Authorities caution that failing to adhere to the measures established by the Commission for Emergencies is a violation of the law and may result in sanctions under applicable regulations.

African Swine Fever is a highly contagious viral disease that affects domestic pigs and wild boars, leading to significant economic losses in the livestock sector. Importantly, the virus poses no danger to humans.
