Government approves CEEPUS scholarships for foreign students in Moldova
The government has established scholarships totaling 3,620 lei for students and master's students participating in the Central European University Exchange Program (CEEPUS IV) in the Republic of Moldova. For doctoral students, researchers, and teaching staff, the approved scholarship amount is 4,400 lei.
The Republic of Moldova's participation in the CEEPUS IV Program commenced in the 2025-2026 academic year and will continue for seven years. The country has pledged to provide at least 100 scholarship months each year for higher-education mobility, including opportunities for studies, internships, teaching, research, artistic creation, and other academic activities.
During a government meeting on March 25, Minister of Education Dan Perciun emphasized that this initiative supports Moldovan universities in their efforts to internationalize and build strong relationships and collaborations with universities abroad, particularly in Central Europe.
"We are increasing the scholarships and social allowances provided under the CEEPUS program to enhance the attractiveness of our universities for international students and faculty. In other words, we want to encourage teachers and students from abroad to come for short study periods in the Republic of Moldova, and, in turn, our students will benefit from these international experiences," explained Minister Perciun.
In addition to the scholarships, program beneficiaries will receive accommodation allowances of 2,000 lei for students and master’s students, and 2,500 lei for doctoral students, researchers, and faculty members.
The CEEPUS academic exchange program operates through university networks in Central and South-Eastern Europe, with each participating country funding foreign scholarship holders on its territory.
Moldova joined the program in 2010, with active participation beginning in 2011. The country is now a party to the new CEEPUS IV agreement, which is valid for seven years.
