Energocom reports it met March 25 power demand but warns of possible outages in the coming days

Energocom reports that it fully met electricity demand for residents on the right bank of the Nistru on March 25 without using emergency power. However, risks remain and outages may occur in the coming days.

Electricity demand on March 25 was fully met through commercial supply, thanks to coordinated efforts by Moldovan authorities and partners in Romania, Ukraine, and other regional states.

However, Energocom warns that the situation remains fragile.

“Due to limits in import capacity, outage risks in the coming days persist. We urge consumers to use electricity wisely during peak hours to lower bills and help maintain system reliability,” the company stated.

Moldova declared a state of emergency in the energy sector for 60 days starting March 25. Authorities stepped in after Russian attacks on March 23 targeted energy infrastructure in southern Ukraine and also affected Moldova’s energy system.

Specifically, Russian-launched Shahed drones damaged conductors on the Vulcănești-Isaccea high-voltage line, taking one of the key electricity import routes offline.

Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu said Ukrenergo crews are repairing the lines.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu said at today’s government meeting that he hopes the state of emergency will last less than 60 days.
