Two men detained for spraying “Democracy at Home” leader with water

Two men were detained after spraying water on the leader of the "Democracy at Home" Party, MP Vasile Costiuc. The incident happened on Wednesday evening, March 25. Law enforcement officials identified one of the suspects as being originally from the Transnistrian region. Costiuc believes he was targeted in an act of intimidation.

Vasile Costiuc shared on social media that, while leaving a television station, he was splashed with water by two young men.

"They threw something at me. One of them opened the door, threw something at me, and hit me. I'm still wet. That's it. I thought there would be a different solution," said Vasile Costiuc.

The deputy called emergency services, and the police officers who arrived on the scene detained the two suspects.

"It was probably a provocation aimed at triggering my impulsive nature, hoping I would retaliate, so they could later show video recordings of me being dangerous. This behavior is inappropriate, reminiscent of the 90s. It sends a message that suggests: we know where you are, and we know you are alone," mentioned the leader of the "Democracy at Home" Party.

The police announced that they would investigate the circumstances of the incident, and so far, no charges have been brought against the suspects.
