Defense Ministry proposes six-week military training for students and young adults over 27

A new military training program may be established in the Republic of Moldova. The Ministry of Defense is proposing a six-week training course aimed at students and young people up to 27 years old.

According to the Ministry of Defense, an 18-year-old university student could undergo military training for up to six weeks, although the exact duration is still being discussed. Upon completion, they would receive a military booklet, making it unnecessary to attend the military department for four months.

Additionally, individuals who did not complete their military training by age 27 will be automatically transferred to the reserves but will still have the opportunity to pursue initial military training.

Currently, in the Republic of Moldova, the mandatory military service lasts for 12 months. There is also a shorter three-month option for individuals with higher education, as well as a four-month military department program.
