Soroca vocational students challenged to persuade graduates to choose a trade

Gymnasium graduates have a few months to make an important decision about their future: where to continue their studies. Those who wish to enter the workforce quickly may choose to attend a vocational school, as technical institutions offer a variety of programs. During this period, the "Caravan of Professions" is taking place, and teenagers from northern regions of the country have visited the Vocational School in Soroca. To mark the occasion, a "Best in the Profession" competition was organized.

The students at the Vocational School in Soroca were tasked with encouraging future graduates to consider a profession in the culinary arts. The aspiring cooks showcased what they learned from their teachers, mothers, or grandmothers.

"Here we have boyar polenta. I was inspired by my grandmother from the village of Sofia in the Drochia district. She usually prepares it for Christmas and especially after she slaughters a pig, as we use fresh or homemade sausages and sheep cheese."

"I made 'zburăței' cookies, which are specific to my village, Coșernița. I took the recipe from my grandmother, who inspired me, and I prepared them for the 'Best in the Profession' competition."

"I cooked nettles, which are often prepared in our village during the spring because they are rich in vitamins."

Nicoleta wants to become a seamstress and tried to convince other young people that this profession can bring you both money and satisfaction.

Students from several gymnasiums in the Soroca district said that they would like to come to study at this vocational school:

"It was a very pleasant experience, I had the opportunity to try myself as a seamstress, I even tried sewing".

"There are professions that guarantee stable work in the Republic of Moldova, they are easy to learn professions and I think it is useful to study here".

"We thought this year that it would be appropriate to include in the caravan the "Best in the Profession" contest, in all the vocational training programs that we have. And at the same time, let's invite students of gymnasium to these competitions, so that we can present the successes of our students to them”, said Ivan Luța, director of the Soroca Vocational School.

The Soroca Vocational School trains cooks, waiters, tailors or operators for technical support of computers.
