Moldova reports second drone incursion from Ukraine in 24 hours

A second Shahed-type drone violated Moldova’s airspace on Tuesday morning, according to the Ministry of Defence. The incident occurred just hours after a similar breach was reported overnight.
Ukrainian air defence units notified the National Army at 09:05 regarding the unauthorised entry. The drone crossed from the Odessa region of Ukraine into the breakaway Transnistria region of Moldova.
Incursion details
The aircraft entered near Podolsk and moved toward Cobasna, the site of a major Soviet-era ammunition depot. Official tracking data shows the drone flew at an altitude of approximately 500 metres.
The device remained in neutral airspace for eight minutes. It exited Moldova at 09:13, heading north back toward Ukrainian territory near Shershentsi.
Security response
Military surveillance systems are currently monitoring the airspace in cooperation with international partners. Authorities have urged citizens to stay at least 500 metres away from any suspicious fallen objects.
"These devices may contain explosive elements sensitive to radio waves," the Ministry warned. Residents should only call the 112 emergency services after reaching a safe distance.
Diplomatic condemnation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the incursions. Officials described the flights as a "grave violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity."
Diplomats warned that such incidents pose significant risks to regional stability and the safety of Moldovan citizens. This is the latest in a series of airspace violations linked to the ongoing conflict in neighbouring Ukraine.
