Record first-grade demand in Chișinău: thousands apply in 3 days
In just three days since the start of first-grade registrations for the 2026–2027 academic year, more than 5,000 applications were submitted, according to the Chisinau City Hall, which reported a "record interest" from parents.
According to data from the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports, over 5,000 applications were submitted by the end of the first week. Of these, 4,910 applications are currently under review, while 112 were withdrawn.
Municipal authorities state that the high number of applications indicates a "spectacular" start to the registration campaign, highlighting parents' increased interest in educational institutions in the capital and the effective use of the dedicated digital platform.
The registration process is conducted online, with the first stage running from April 1 to May 18. Representatives from the Chisinau City Hall advise parents to submit their applications early to avoid congestion toward the end of the registration period.
This year, a total of 121 educational institutions in Chisinau are offering 9,620 places for children enrolling in the first grade.
