Chișinău public transport passes will cost more from May 1
Starting May 1, public transport passes in Chisinau will increase in price. The fare for a single trip will rise from 6 to 7 lei, reflecting an approximate 17% increase. This change is being implemented due to rising fuel costs.
For regular travelers, pass prices will increase between 39 and 162 lei, depending on the subscription period. Specifically, the monthly pass will cost 273 lei, an increase of 39 lei; the three-month pass will rise to 693 lei, an additional 99 lei; and the six-month pass will be priced at 1,134 lei, an increase of 162 lei.
Students will also see price hikes, with increases ranging from 19 to 81 lei. The one-month pass will now cost 136 lei (a 19 lei increase), the three-month pass will be 346 lei (an increase of 49 lei), and the six-month pass will be priced at 567 lei (81 lei more).
For students, educators, and healthcare employees, the monthly pass will increase by 27 lei, making it 191 lei; the quarterly pass will rise by 69 lei to reach 485 lei; and the six-month pass will go up by 114 lei to a total of 794 lei.
These increases amount to approximately 17% and will also apply to other pass types, including those for economic agents and single-parent families. However, primary school students will continue to benefit from free passes.
