Water tariffs rise in Bălți and Ștefan Vodă, approved by ANRE

Water prices are increasing in certain areas of the Republic of Moldova. The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has approved new tariffs for water supply and sewage services.

In Bălți, the municipal enterprise Regia “Apă-Canal Bălți” has set a new tariff for drinking water at 27.40 lei per cubic meter. This represents a slight increase of 44 bani compared to the current tariff; however, it is 8.76 lei lower than the amount initially requested by the operator.

Representatives from ANRE explained, “The adjustment was made based on a detailed cost analysis, accepting only justified and strictly necessary expenses for carrying out regulated activities.”

In Ștefan Vodă, the increase in tariffs is more significant, rising by nearly six lei. As a result, the price of water for residents will be 36.19 lei, which is an increase of 5.90 lei from the current rate.

The cost of sewerage services is also rising. The new tariff will be 31.32 lei per cubic meter, which is an increase of 2.95 lei compared to the current rate.

In contrast, the tariff for economic agents will remain unchanged at 48.74 lei.

These decisions were made during a public meeting on April 22. Authorities state that these adjustments are necessary to strike a balance between covering the actual costs incurred by operators and protecting consumers' interests by including only justified expenses in the tariffs.
