Two dead as Russian drones hit Odessa apartments

Russian forces launched a wave of drone attacks against Odessa overnight, striking residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) confirmed that the assault claimed at least two lives and left 14 others wounded.

Severe damage to residential sectors

A three-story apartment building sustained critical structural failure following a direct drone impact. The resulting blaze gutted several units and injured six residents. Rescue teams worked through the night to contain the fire and search for survivors in the debris.

In a separate district, two double-story buildings were demolished by explosions. Emergency crews successfully rescued one person from the ruins and evacuated 20 residents, including two children. Seven individuals were reported injured in this specific sector.

Casualties and emergency response

A third strike targeted a two-story house in another neighborhood, resulting in two fatalities and one injury. Rescuers evacuated 16 neighbors as the building was deemed unstable. To manage the aftermath, over 140 emergency personnel were deployed across the city.

Beyond physical injuries, the psychological toll was immense. Specialized mental health units provided crisis intervention to more than 50 survivors, including three children suffering from severe emotional shock.

Ongoing operations

The final casualty toll remains fluid as recovery operations continue. Images from the scene depict rescuers saving pets and using K9 units to ensure no one remains trapped under the concrete fragments. Local authorities emphasized that the targets were purely civilian in nature.
