UTM confirms Viorel Bostan for new Rector mandate

The academic community of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) has officially re-elected Professor Viorel Bostan, PhD, as Rector. The result was formalized on Friday following a decision by the Council for Institutional Strategic Development, which validated the election returns.
Professor Bostan secured a robust mandate with the support of 751 faculty members, researchers, and students. The university administration emphasized that the election process was conducted with full transparency and in strict accordance with institutional regulations.
Strategic validation
The Council’s decision confirms the collective vote of the university’s stakeholders, providing the necessary legitimacy to advance the institution's development agenda. University representatives noted that the high turnout and clear result reflect the unity and maturity of the academic body.
In his victory remarks, Viorel Bostan expressed gratitude for the trust placed in his leadership and emphasized the importance of institutional stability.
Commitment to reform
"I thank all my colleagues for their vote and for choosing to continue the reforms initiated for the benefit of our students and researchers," stated Rector Bostan. He also extended his appreciation to his opponent, Mr. Bârdan, for maintaining a fair and dignified competition.
The election outcome is seen as a strong endorsement of UTM’s current strategic direction. The administration maintains that this continuity is essential for the university to strengthen its position as a leading regional center for technical education and innovation.
