Petrocub dominate Milsami Orhei to maintain five-point lead

Petrocub Hâncești are on the verge of clinching their second Moldovan Super League title following a commanding 3-0 away victory against Milsami Orhei in the eighth round of the championship play-offs.
The league leaders maintained their five-point cushion at the top of the table with only two matches remaining in the season. Center-back Cătălin Cucoș broke the deadlock in the 67th minute with a powerful header.
The momentum continued as forward Petru Popescu doubled the lead just ten minutes later, also scoring with a clinical header. Mihai Lupan sealed the dominant performance with a goal in stoppage time (90+2').
"We cannot celebrate yet. Mathematically, the title is not won," stated Petrocub head coach Șota Maharadze. He emphasized that the team must prepare for the final two "complicated" matches with meticulous detail.
Milsami coach Alexei Savinov attributed the loss to a severe squad depth crisis. Due to injuries, Orhei had only three players on the bench, leading to visible fatigue in the second half which Petrocub exploited.
With 36 points, Petrocub remains the firm favorite for the trophy. Zimbru Chișinău holds second place with 31 points after a decisive 4-1 home win against CSF Bălți in the same round.
