Sheriff transferred €5 million to the so-called Tiraspol social fund

Sheriff holding transferred 100 million Transnistrian rubles, more than 107 thousand Moldovan lei, about 5.33 million euros, into the so-called social support fund “Împreună”, set up by the self-proclaimed Tiraspol administration to cover social expenses in the region.
Information about Sheriff’s donation was published on the website of the so-called fund, which lists all contributions. According to the source, Sheriff’s transfer represents the largest contribution recorded so far.
Alongside the holding’s multimillion donation, the fund also received much smaller amounts from local legal entities, as well as from anonymous donors.
In total, the so-called fund has collected 100,424,083 Transnistrian rubles to date, equivalent to approximately 107,982,884 Moldovan lei.
The list of contributions includes transfers of 45,000, 25,000, and 16,000 Transnistrian rubles, along with symbolic donations of 5, 3, or 1 ruble, and even 20 kopecks.

On 11 May, the separatist administration in Tiraspol called on companies and residents in the Transnistrian region to contribute financially to the “Împreună” fund.
According to the separatist authorities, the collected resources will go toward salaries, pensions, social benefits, and other payments.
The initiative comes from the so-called Transnistrian prime minister, Alexandr Rozenberg, who said the region’s economy faces a critical period due to “external restrictions, logistical problems, and the consequences of halted gas deliveries since early 2025”.
Rozenberg also stated that donations will be managed transparently, and all transfers to the fund will continue to appear on a dedicated online platform.
Sheriff is the largest economic holding in the Transnistrian region. Former security service employees Victor Gușan and Ilia Kazmalî founded it in the 1990s. The group holds a de facto monopoly in the region and controls key sectors such as food retail, fuel, telecommunications, banking, and local media.
In practice, it serves as the backbone of the left bank of the Nistru economy and operates as a “state within a state”.
Politically, it holds strong influence and is seen as the main supporter of the unrecognized authorities in Tiraspol.
