European federation plans investment in Moldova’s swimming infrastructure

The European Swimming Federation expressed its willingness to partially fund the construction of a new 50-meter Olympic pool in the Republic of Moldova. This topic was discussed during a meeting at the Ministry of Education and Research with the Federation's President, Antonio Silva, who is visiting the Republic of Moldova.
The project represents a critical step in the development of performance sports and lays the groundwork for hosting international competitions in the country.
State Secretary for Sports Sergiu Gurin stated that the Ministry of Education and Research is actively promoting swimming in the Republic of Moldova. He also expressed interest in the professional development of swimming coaches and water sports specialists.
“Representatives of the relevant federation have indicated their commitment to providing support for training and development programs for specialists in the field. They will also assist in organizing seminars and training courses in the Republic of Moldova, facilitating access to modern methodologies and international training standards,” reads a press release issued by the Ministry.
During their visit to the Republic of Moldova, the delegation from the European Swimming Federation toured several specialized schools.
It is important to note that most of the pools in Chisinau and across the country are semi-Olympic, with 25-meter lanes, and are primarily used for training, sports schools, or recreational purposes. The only 50-meter Olympic pool is located in the Aqua Center complex at Arena Chisinau.
