Education Ministry will financially support teachers who teach Romanian in Gagauzia schools

The Ministry of Education and Research has announced that starting this year, it will provide financial incentives for Romanian-speaking teachers who transfer to educational institutions in Gagauzia. This initiative aims to enhance the availability of education in Romanian within the autonomous region, according to Minister Dan Perciun.
According to the authorities in Chișinău, there will be an installation bonus of up to 15,000 euros for teachers who agree to work in kindergartens and schools in Gagauzia for a minimum of 3 to 5 years.
"We need to address the accommodation issue. Teachers from nearby districts may commute. We are not anticipating a large number of teachers, just around 30 to 50 for a start. Creating these incentives and implementing the project this year is essential," said Perciun in an interview with Agerpres.
The Minister of Education stated that teachers transferred to schools in Gagauzia should be graduates of programs taught in Romanian.
"They must have completed their studies in Romanian, and ideally, we prefer native Romanian speakers," the minister added.
This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the educational system in Gagauzia. The minister believes it will not only enhance the quality of teaching but also significantly alleviate the shortage of teaching staff in schools and kindergartens in the region.
