Summer travel starts at €199

International instability and rising fuel prices have made vacations more expensive this summer. Despite these challenges, Moldovans continue to prioritize vacations, with Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, and Egypt remaining the most popular destinations.

“Aviation fuel prices have increased by 100% compared to early March. As a result, tour operators have implemented surcharges specifically for this fuel component in their tourist service packages. On average, these surcharges amount to 30–35 euros per person,” stated Ion Alexa, president of the National Association of Economic Travel Agents of Moldova (ANAT), in a report for the show “Bună Dimineața” on Moldova 1.

Over time, a list of popular destinations has emerged where Moldovans return year after year. Among the favored summer destinations are Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, and Egypt.

“They offer all-inclusive packages, which are very convenient for families vacationing with children. Additionally, we have direct flights to Tunisia that also offer the all-inclusive concept”, said Ion Alexa.

Tourists wishing to visit Greece can choose from a diverse range of options with direct flights from Chișinău. They can also opt for bus trips to Halkidiki and the island of Thasos.

“There are offers for flights to the islands of Corfu, Rhodes, and Zakynthos. We have daily flights to the island of Crete and to Thessaloniki,” the ANAT president pointed out.

The price of a vacation varies based on the inclusions, type of accommodation, and chosen destination.

“We start at 199 euros, and the upper limit is essentially limitless,” added Ion Alexa.

Recently, there has been an increase in demand for vacations focused on improving health and physical well-being. This type of holiday is no longer exclusively for older individuals; more young couples are opting for hotels with saunas, spa centers, and relaxation services.

“We have options in Hungary, known for its thermal waters, the famous spa resorts of Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic, destinations in Slovenia, and high-quality offerings in Abano Terme, Italy,” mentioned Ion Alexa.

The rising costs of holidays abroad may increase interest in domestic tourist destinations, according to ANAT representatives.

Regardless of your chosen destination—whether you travel abroad or explore tourist routes within the Republic of Moldova—the most crucial aspect remains planning your holiday. Organizing in advance can help you save both money and time.
