Over 17,000 students take foreign language exam

Today, June 9, over 17,000 candidates are expected to take the foreign language test, the third examination in the national baccalaureate exam, according to data from the Ministry of Education and Research.

Over 14,500 graduates are registered to take the English exam, while over 2,400 individuals have signed up for the French exam. In contrast, fewer than 150 candidates have registered for the German, Italian, Spanish, and Turkish exams combined.

The Ministry of Education and Research has announced that five graduates will take only one baccalaureate exam this session, having achieved the maximum grades in their other exams. Four of these students are international Olympians who received this opportunity for their outstanding performances in international competitions, along with certificates attesting to their linguistic and computer skills.

The students are Alin Popescu, Alexandru Bordei, Darius Graur, and Robert Barbuța, all 12th graders from the "Orizont" Theoretical Lyceum in Durlești, Chișinău municipality. Additionally, Vasile Reileanu, a 12th-grade student at the "Ion Creangă" Theoretical Lyceum in Bălți, will also take only one exam. He qualified for this based on his impressive performance, receiving a grade of "10" at the Republican Olympiad in Romanian Language and Literature, as well as certificates confirming his competence in foreign languages and computer science.

According to the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC), four other graduates—three from Chișinău and one from Cojușna in the Strășeni district—are required to take only one test in the national baccalaureate exam.

The foreign language test is scheduled as the third exam in the 2026 baccalaureate session. The next exam will take place on June 12, during which students from the real profile will take the mathematics test, while those from the humanities profile will take the Romanian language and universal history exams.

The baccalaureate session will conclude on June 19 with the mother tongue test. The tests will be evaluated until June 24, and preliminary results will be announced on June 25. Approximately 18,500 candidates are participating in this year's session.
