Farmers stage protest at Fălești entrance

Several farmers from the Fălești district will take part in a protest on Friday, June 12, against what they describe as the "discrimination and decapitalization" of micro, small, and medium-sized farms. The protest is backed by the Farmers' Force Association.

According to the organizers, the protest will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the Sculeni to Fălești national road, at the entrance to Fălești, near the bus station. Farmers will bring tractors and other agricultural machinery, which will be parked along the roadside.

The protesters say the agricultural sector faces severe economic challenges and are calling on the authorities to adopt measures to support micro, small, and medium-sized farms. Their main demands include the introduction of direct per hectare payments for grain and oilseed crops starting in 2027.

They also want the government to fully refund the excise tax on diesel fuel used for agricultural work beginning in 2026.

Representatives of the Farmers' Force Association said they will support the protest and assist participants.

Late last week, the Farmers' Force Association announced that farmers had agreed to give the authorities a "grace period" after the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) reportedly accepted several demands raised during the warning protest on May 27.

According to the association, the agreement followed talks with Agriculture Minister Ludmila Catlabuga, who reportedly accepted "a number of strategic demands" and requested time until June 15 to clarify implementation details and to hold further consultations with the Ministry of Finance.
