Five modern armored vehicles delivered to Moldova’s National Army

The National Army has received its first five "Piranha-5" armored vehicle, delivered by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. During an official ceremony on June 17, Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi stated that this delivery marks a significant milestone in the modernization process of the defense institution and the enhancement of the army's operational capabilities.

"We are grateful for the valuable support from the Federal Republic of Germany and the strong partnership we have developed in the field of defense. This collaboration is contributing significantly to the strengthening and modernisation of the defence sector in the Republic of Moldova," the official stated.

The German Ambassador to Chisinau, Hubert Knirsch, highlighted that the delivery of armored vehicles signifies a significant step in strengthening bilateral cooperation. He noted that support will continue, with a focus on enhancing the protection of Moldovan peacekeepers.

“I am pleased that we can provide the Republic of Moldova with five state-of-the-art armored vehicles manufactured in Germany. These vehicles complement the previously delivered equipment and are part of our ongoing support efforts, which will persist in the coming period. Through our cooperation, we are contributing to the enhancement of Moldova's defense capabilities while also increasing the protection and safety of Moldovan peacekeepers,” the ambassador stated.

The Piranha-5 is regarded as one of the most advanced wheeled armored personnel carriers in use around the world, particularly among NATO member states and their partners. It is known for providing high protection for the crew, as well as increased mobility and operational flexibility.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the newly received equipment will be allocated to the training centers of the National Army.
