Moldovan PM orders property agency overhaul after scandal

The Moldovan government will overhaul the Public Property Agency (APP) following mounting scrutiny over internal institutional practices, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu announced during a cabinet meeting on June 24.

The decision coincides with the immediate resignation of the entire Prime Minister’s Control Body, the entity tasked with auditing state institutions.

Zero tolerance for mismanagement

Prime Minister Munteanu cited urgent transparency and accountability concerns regarding the management of strategic state assets as the catalyst for the restructuring.

The shake-up follows an ongoing investigation into MoldATSA, the state-run airspace management enterprise, over the unlawful distribution of salary bonuses.

The government has since expanded financial and operational audits to several other state-owned enterprises overseen by the APP.
