Egypt make history as Belgium top Group G

Egypt secured a place in the FIFA World Cup round of 32 after drawing 1-1 with Iran in Group G, reaching the knockout stage for the first time in the nation's history. Mahmoud Saber put the Africans ahead in the fifth minute before Ramin Rezaeian equalised nine minutes later. Egypt will face Australia in the round of 32, while Iran must wait to see whether it advances as one of the tournament's eight best third-placed teams.

Belgium finished top of Group G with a commanding 5-1 victory over New Zealand. After unconvincing performances against Iran and Egypt, the Red Devils produced an emphatic display.

Leandro Trossard scored twice, while Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Saelemaekers also found the net. Elijah Just scored New Zealand's consolation goal in the 84th minute.
