EU demands Iran respect truce after strikes on Bahrain

The European Union strongly condemned recent Iranian drone strikes against Bahrain and urged Tehran to respect the security memorandum signed last week with the United States.
An EEAS spokesperson called the attacks unacceptable violations of international law, expressing full solidarity with Bahrain. The EU urged Iran to halt hostilities immediately and fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
While Bahrain reported being targeted by multiple drones, Tehran claimed it struck US military bases. Iran further accused Washington of violating the June 17 memorandum following American retaliatory bombings on Iran's southern coast.
These military actions mark the first direct violations since both nations signed the Washington-Tehran memorandum. The agreement aimed to end hostilities, ensure free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and facilitate final nuclear program negotiations.
