Ukraine secures $690m IMF release to boost economic stability

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund has approved a new $690 million funding tranche for Ukraine. The decision follows the completion of the latest review under the country's four-year Extended Fund Facility arrangement. Funds are expected to reach Kyiv within days, according to reports from RBK-Ukraine.
Program performance and reforms In an official statement, the IMF evaluated Ukraine’s overall program execution as broadly satisfactory. The Fund confirmed that Kyiv met all quantitative performance criteria set for the end of March, despite delays in implementing specific structural benchmarks.
Ukrainian authorities have agreed to adjusted policy measures and an updated reform calendar. Kyiv reaffirmed its commitment to advancing structural reforms across fiscal policy, anti-corruption governance, and the energy and financial sectors.
Government commitments to financial recovery
Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi confirmed the IMF decision, stating that the release of funds is imminent. "Following this disbursement, total financial support delivered to Ukraine under the current extended program will reach approximately $2.2 billion," Koretskyi said. He emphasized that all end-March quantitative performance metrics and indicative targets were successfully met.
The Prime Minister noted that the updated program schedule establishes clear milestones for upcoming structural adjustments. "The government remains determined to accelerate reform implementation to guarantee access to external financing, strengthen financial resilience, and pave the way for sustainable economic recovery and EU accession," Koretskyi added.
The approval follows bilateral discussions between Prime Minister Koretskyi and IMF First Deputy Managing Director Dan Katz earlier this month.
