Sakura alley, lighting and recreational spaces: How Moldexpo’s territory will be transformed
Moldexpo is initiating a project to rehabilitate and modernize one of the main access alleys to the exhibition complex. This area will be transformed into a Sakura Alley, featuring modern lighting, urban furniture, and recreational spaces. It will serve as a connection between the Moldexpo territory and Valea Morilor. The tender for the execution of the project will be announced soon.
The project is part of a larger initiative to revitalize and modernize the Moldexpo territory. According to the institution, the existing configuration of the alley will be preserved and extended to the perimeter fence. Additionally, the project includes plans for a new, prominent access gate to the complex, as well as the installation of a modern lighting system and urban furniture.
"Our goal is very clear: to develop an area that is beloved and appreciated by the community, but has unfortunately been neglected and underinvested for years," stated Moldexpo director Zinaida Popa.
The institution aims to transform the exhibition complex's territory into an attractive space for the community throughout the year, even during times when no exhibitions or events are taking place.
"Our objective is to convert the neglected areas of Moldexpo into modern spaces dedicated to sports, recreation, and leisure. We want to build communities, ensuring that Moldexpo is a welcoming place not just during exhibitions and events, but at all times," Zinaida Popa added.
The new alley is also designed to connect the Moldexpo area with Valea Morilor, providing a landscaped and accessible route between the two spaces.
"We aim to link the Moldexpo area with Valea Morilor through a modern sakura alley, creating a natural connection between the two locations," said the Moldexpo director.
During the conference where the project was unveiled, the issue of water and mud accumulation near the Moldexpo fence was also discussed.
"We are pleased that Chisinau City Hall has finally initiated the necessary work to address the issue of forest springs, which caused water and mud to accumulate on the Moldexpo territory. What’s important is that this problem is now being addressed," Zinaida Popa said.
According to Moldexpo, the next step in the project is to launch a tender for the development works of the alley, a process that will begin soon.
